You’ll learn how to:

  • Get everyone talking with simple, flexible structures
  • Use questions that deepen student thinking
  • Harness agreement and disagreement to energise discussions
  • Sequence activities so students can formulate and articulate ideas with confidence
  • Design outreach activity linked to your subject interests
  • Deliver outreach sessions that are memorable, enjoyable and impactful
Who is it for and who delivers it?

If you are an Oxford researcher, a postgraduate or a student ambassador and would like to be an effective, confident facilitator, this workshop is for you.

It is offered by the University of Oxford central outreach team and is delivered by Jason Buckley, (http://www.oracyforschools.co.uk). Jason read philosophy at Corpus Christi, Cambridge. A former secondary English teacher, since 2008 he has specialised in philosophy for children and oracy pedagogies.

Work opportunities with Oxplore

Once you complete the Facilitation Skills training, we will invite you to join our group of Oxplore Facilitators. 

Throughout the year, we deliver in-person and online Oxplore workshops in Oxford colleges for visiting school groups from across the UK. We also work with IntoUniversity and deliver similar workshops to their partner schools in Oxford. 

As an Oxplore Facilitator you will receive email notifications of new roles and work opportunities.
