INTRODUCTION

This accessibility statement applies to the oxplore.ox.ac.uk domain.

This website is run by Oxplore, a widening access project within the University of Oxford. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet (External Link) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

HOW ACCESSIBLE IS THIS WEBSITE

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.
Ensuring it is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This commitment to inclusivity means our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust, providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for everyone. This standard underscores our dedication to creating an equitable digital environment, reflecting our values of accessibility and inclusiveness.

WHAT WE'RE DOING TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY

As we continue to develop our website, we aim to align with select aspects of the WCAG AAA standard. Fully meeting all 23 criteria points is impractical due to the extensive time, resources, and funding required for its implementation. However, we are actively exploring ways to incorporate select accessibility features, such as sign language interpretation and audio-only alternatives throughout the Oxplore website.

ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURE

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’).

If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (External Link).

HOW ACCESSIBLE THIS WEBSITE IS

We want our website to offer the best experience possible for all of our users. Here you can see known issues in more detail and a log of resolved issues as we continue to work on website content and structure.

  • Some text may disappear on text heavy challenge slides if the browser window is moved in a non-uniform manner. This occurs as some text is no longer able to fit within the slide at its lowest scale without readability being impacted.
