THE PROGRAMME

What does Oxplore Teach have to offer?

Oxplore Challenges

Oxplore Challenge materials are “Oxplore sessions in a box” – 45-minute or 10-minute sessions made for learners of all prior attainment levels, designed to be run with minimal preparation time and materials. Each Challenge encourages learners to think like a university researcher, and practice at least three of the Key Oxplore Skills (see below).

Our first set of Oxplore Challenges are for learners aged 11-14 (Key Stage 3 in England and Wales, S1-S3 in Scotland, Years 8-10 in Northern Ireland). We hope to introduce Challenge materials for older and younger learners in late 2024/early 2025.

Oxplore Teach CPDL

'CPD' primarily refers to the repository of knowledge, including training materials, development content, and programs. In contrast, 'CPDL' focuses on the learning processes associated with that knowledge base and how thoroughly CPD is integrated into the practices of teachers and schools. [Source: Cordingley, P. (2015). Chapter 3. Why is evidence about teachers’ professional learning and continuing professional development observed more in the breach than reality? Why has it not stuck? In Making a Difference: Turning teacher learning inside out (pp. 1–22).]

Our CPDL materials are a set of free e-learning modules for teachers and other educators (including teaching assistants, tutors and activity leaders). Each module summarises key published research papers giving details on what works to support learners to stay on their attainment trajectories throughout secondary school.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

The Oxplore Key Skills

The Oxplore Key Skills are based on the qualities that university tutors and employers have reported looking for in potential candidates for further study and work. Each Challenge focuses on three of these skills, providing learners with an opportunity to practice them and reflect on how they have developed.

Programme management, flexibility and tracking effectiveness

We’re hoping to introduce more features in the near future to support tracking the effectiveness of sessions, as well as providing SLTs and/or school champions with the ability to view and report on participation across the school.
